The inaugural running of the Windsor Castle Stakes for 3-year-olds over the New Mile was on Thursday 30th May 1839 when won by a black colt by Sir Hercules out of Gulnare, winning 600 sovereigns from 6 subscriptions (equivalent to £63,000 in 2020). The Corsair was first passed the post but was disqualified for not carrying 5lb extra as a result of winning a 2000 guineas stake. | Over round 103% |
